3 Killer Online Marketing Mistakes To Avoid

Jan 05, 2021

Starting a business online these days is easier than ever, but building a successful one is something that most fail at.

Why do they fail? It's usually because they make one or more of the following mistakes.

These mistakes are common, too. Heck, I am the first to say I am a victim of mistake #3.

With notifications and instant gratification hits of likes, followers, and everything else, we're becoming programmed to look out for shiny objects. In fact, there's a thing called Shiny Object Syndrome - which is the tendency for someone to chase something new, be it a new idea, trend, or goal, rather than to stay focused on what they are doing. The behaviour is similar to a child who is attracted to anything that's shiny and new.

Anyways, here are the 3 Killer Online Marketing Mistakes To Avoid:

#1 Not creating content

Building a long-term business involves creating an audience. You don't want to rebuild it every month.

#2 Not building an email list

If you stick to only followers or subscribers you are not actually owning your business. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and even YouTube are excellent platforms, but they ultimately control the ability to switch you off. You don't want to lose that audience, so building an email list is absolutely key!

#3 Not focusing on one thing

Stop splitting your focus into so many business models and systems and stick to a few of them until it works.

Do you suffer from losing focus like me? You might like to try the Pomodoro Technique to help you keep on track with what you want to achieve. I've recently started trying it, and although it's tough at times - I can already see the value it offers.
